The benefits of Nail trims for dogs & cats

Why regular trims matter

Overgrown nails can force your pet to shift their weight unnaturally, leading to joint strain, posture issues, and long-term discomfort. Regular trims help maintain proper alignment and natural movement. Long nails are also more likely to split, crack, or break, which can be painful and prone to infection. Nails that curl can even grow into paw pads, causing severe discomfort. Short, well-maintained nails provide better grip on floors and outdoor surfaces, reducing the risk of slipping and falls—especially important for senior pets. Plus, trimmed nails are less likely to scratch floors, furniture, or skin during playtime and cuddles, protecting your home and family. Regular nail care supports overall paw health by preventing these common issues.

How does your pet react to Nail Trims?

We understand that many pets get anxious about nail trims. At Pet Central Station, our team is dedicated to making pets feel safe, calm, and happy during their appointment. We offer treats and encourage comfort from owners or staff throughout the process. We do have muzzles available if needed for safety, but if a dog becomes too uncomfortable and starts thrashing or biting, we will suggest taking them to a veterinarian for their trim, as we prioritize minimizing stress for your pet.
